Prabe # 10

I ejoyed the PRABE experience overall. I felt sometimes that with my course load and other assignments this one always seemed to get pushed into the "when I get to it" pile. 90 minutes doesn't seem like a lot of time but when your a single mom with a full time job and a one year old 90 minutes of quiet time is few and far between. However on the flip side, I did use it as an excuse once or twice to call a babysitter, fill up the bathtub with extra bubbles and relax. I found that completely intoxicating. If I had the time, and resources, I would like to do that for myself at least once a week.

As for the blogging process, I'm not sure I see the benefit. I enjoyed reading, but when it came to writing about what I read I was sometimes lost and not sure what direction to take it. I would like to see you have some general question that should be answered each week.

Prabe # 9

This week was a very busy week for me. I did not have time to start a new book but I did however find time to read a few gossip magazines. I don't know why these are so addicting to me, but I find them to be highly interested. My better half things it's crazy that I even care about who is wearing what outfit or who is divorcing who, but for some reason... I LOVE IT. They had this very interesting article on the show "The Real Housewives" This is a reality show on the Bravo channel that follows the lives of 5 housewives. I also am equally addicted to this show. They are all filthy rich and complain about everything, fight about everything, and want everything. But again for some reason, I am intrigued. This article was about one particular woman who's husband had recent committed suicide. This detailed her latest life endeavors and how she was doing post-suicide. To me, it seemed that she was trying to collect her little big of fame from the media coverage, but after this article I found out there were many skeletons in her closet that showed she really was nothing but a victim. Her husband abused her and their daughter and was in lots of financial trouble. This is how I spent my reading time... Pathetic.

prabe #8

This week I finished reading the The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. Last week I left off when Ronnie and Will's relationship has blossomed but there was something that was being left unsaid about Steve, Ronnie's father. The author kept hinting about something with Steve but it was never clear what... We then found out that Steve was terminally ill and was only given a few months more, if that. He wanted to spend the summer with his kids, which would have been their last times together.
Another thing that I like about this book is that it has a recurring theme of subject that repeats itself numerous times. For example the piano. It was always known that playing the piano was a large part of their relationship together, and that Steve once taught at Julliard, but it didn't play a major role, just subtle hints here and there. There was also the stained glass window that Steve and Ronnie's little brother were making, and the author brought this back at the very end of the book as a metaphor for the life and light. I thoroghly enjoyed reading this story and look forward to the next one I pick up.

Prabe # 7

Much like last week, I found myself reading more and more without the television hooked up. I can't say that I really have even missed the T.V. as i dived further into my reading this week, I was able to learn more about  Will and Ronnie's relationship and get to watch it blossom. One thing I notice about Nicholas Sparks that he does in many of his stories, is how he relays time. For example their relationship, he goes into graphic details about the first few encounters, and every word and/or every emotion and feeling. But then he usually skips forward in time to when the next big conflict or big event is going to happen. How he does this is by making their relationship more realistic. Like they don't have teh same awkwardnesses, they don't have the the shy bashful moments. They are comfortable and relaxed with one an another. Another thing that played a big actor in what I read this week was the prevelence of Scott having found himself in some sort of trouble. It hasn't been revelaved what he's done yet but it involved something to do with Blaze's boyfriend. Its a big secret and Will is covering for him for some reason. Will sister also had her big wedding which of course was runined by will getting into a fight with blzes boyfriend over Ronnie. Will's mother loved that and kicked Ronnie out of the property. I should be able to finish the book this week (Hopfully with the holiday's.)

Prabe # 6

This week I found myself reading quite often. I moved into a new apartment and didn't have the television hooked up just yet. I read more this week than I can remember. I have forgotten how much I can completely lose myself in the stories I read. I guess that's the beauty of it...

In the last few chapters that I have read, we learned more about Ronnie and Will's blossoming relationship. I love how the author reels you in the begining phases. He does this in almost all his books. There is the meet, some sort of falling out or issue, and  then they end up winding back up together. It's very predictable and expected, but regardless of that matter, it is something that I look forward to in every book.

Week 6 Prabe# 5

This week I was unfortunatley only able to read for an hour. In the couple chapters I was able to read I learned more about both Blaze and Ronnie's troubled past. Blaze was getting lots of trouble becaue her parents are very neglective. They do't pay attetion to her and she basicaly lives for herself even though she is at a very young age. And Blaze had gotten into a little trouble due to shoplifting. I think that this is going to have some important role throughout the book. The author has brought this subject mater up a few times already and the mom mentioned in in one of the first few paragraphs. I am very interested to see how that plays out.

Prabe #4

This week, I continued reading in The Last Song. The thing that I found most interesting this week for his novels was the authors use of chapters. He titles the chapters with a characters name and then tells the story from that persons point of view. Then in the following chapter, it will be a different characters name and their point of view of the same situation. For example, Ronnie meets a new group of friends and the chapter details her version of the encounter. In the following chapter, titled Marcus, it's the same encounter but his thoughts of the encounter. I think this is a great way to really let you in and allows you to know more about each character on a personal level.
